How do I become the chapter president at my school for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated?

At the school that I am going to now it has gotten so bad that our chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. did not even make the MINIMUM requirements to be an on campus sorority for the past two years and the president does not seem to even care. So I was wondering if one of you fine ladies could tell me how I could go about becoming the Chapter President? Is there some type of election? Do I have to contact my Regions Director? I have only been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha for one semester and I transfered from a different school but I know that I could turn this chapter around. Please help ladies of AKA ONLY!
