What is 196.6GB Partition on New Laptop?

I bought a new Laptop off the internet and it DID NOT have an operating system pre-installed. While installing Windows 7 it showed that it had a 196.6 GB Partition Titled "Disk 0 Partition 1" which I could not install Windows and then the rest of the HDD which was unallocated in which i could install the OS. Does anyone know what this partition is? I would assume it is drivers but would deleting it benefit me? I was planning on setting up a system recovery partition.
