Question about alpha kappa alpha?

You will definitely want to go to their events. If you cannot attend them all that's fine, but you will want to get your face out there. There is nothing wrong with going to other sorority's or fraternity's events for socials, but you don't want to make it seem you have an interest in any other sorority. You can introduce yourself to some members of your school's chapter and even the Graduate chapter from which graduate adviser is apart.
