Entering grad chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.?

Is it possible to enter into an Alpha Kappa Alpha grad chapter of a particular city, other then the city you permanently reside in? For example, someone wishes to join the graduate chapter and lives in NJ, however she will be going to graduate school in NY (living there temporarily) and wishes to pursue entry into Alpha Kappa Alpha while in graduate school. Will it be possible for her to pursue membership while in NY, and gain entry into the NY grad chapter or will she have to wait until she graduates and pursue membership in NJ, where she permanently resides?
